COMPLETED PROJECTS
School Project
After the 2015 earthquake, Sahayatri Nepal built two community schools in the village made of CSEB (Compressed Stabilized Earth Bricks). Later, with the support of the Japanese government, a large school building with eight classrooms was built from solid and earthquake-resistant concrete bricks. Thus the village now has a school with classrooms of international standard. Sahayatri Nepal provides needy children with books and stationery.
Scholarship Program
Sushila and Sapana Tamang, are two very committed sisters from the village with a strong thirst for knowledge. After they finished high school, they wanted to continue their education in a college. Sayahtri Nepal offered a scholarship program to the two girls, whose parents are underprivileged as farmers. With the great help of three supporters from the USA, both of them were able to take a two-year college course in management in Kathmandu, which they completed with excellent grades. This now enables them to study in Japan and support their parents and sisters.
Compressed Stabilized Earth Bricks (CSEB) Project
Introduction

During the earthquake in Nepal in 2015, the village of Karki Gaun also suffered from the destruction of many residential buildings. Almost 95% of the houses were completely destroyed by the disaster. In order to support the local villagers in rebuilding their houses and the community school with affordable costs, Sahayatri Nepal has created the "Brick Project" CSEB. To support the reconstruction process, a small brick factory was built in the middle of the community. The villagers themselves were hired to run the project. The bricks were distributed at nominal cost to the villagers and free of charge to those who are extremely poor and cannot afford the bricks themselves. With the approval of the Nepalese government, the environmentally friendly CSEB, which meet the declared standards of earthquake safety, community schools and private homes were built.
Objective

Support the local villagers in building their houses and the community school by providing the necessary local reconstruction resources.
Water Project
In 2015 not only residential buildings but also the reserve water tank of the village were destroyed. About 200 households in the suburbs of Karki village in Nuwakot district used the water from this tank, which was built in the community 40 years ago.
This tank had a capacity of about 50,000 liters of water, which was drawn from the Himalayas 9 km uphill in the village. The destruction of the tank by the earthquake caused a water crisis among the villagers. A new water tank was needed. Sahayatri Nepal planned to build a tank with 20 000 liters. The Nepalese government greatly appreciated the efforts and even supported the construction of a second, even larger water tank with a capacity of 50 000 liters.
The community now has two reserve tanks with a total capacity of 70,000 liters.
And water meter system in the communities.
Objectives
- to solve the ongoing water crisis in KarkiGaun and near community villages
- to increase the proper consumption of water over a long period of time.
